Could anyone tell me if anything is to be done about the loss of the opportunity to make Shonaig and others face up to the membership. I couldn't stay for the whole agm, but I was appalled that the no confidence motion was circumvented in the way it was. My considerable respect for the President took a knock at that. I feel that a strong protest and another call for the chairman to face judgement should be registered. We have her until September and not only that, she will have a hand in choosing her successor. I was extremely unimpressed by her choice of CEO who has sounded shallow and patronising on every occasion I have so far heard her and displays an apparent lack of understanding of the seriousness of the issues facing the Trust today and what it's purpose is for Scotland. As for the miraculous turn-around in finances outlined by Lesley Watt - well quite frankly I don't believe a word of it. Blaming the recession for the Trust's problems was wrong, yes it didn't help, but the problems were more deep-seated than that glib explanation suggested. Her figures year on year just don't stack up. I am so disenchanted with the whole affair that I may just go elsewhere with my subscription. Unfortunately if we all did that, it would let down the gardeners and conservation workers and the other staff who have already been failed by the chairwoman and her appointees. We need to call another meeting with motions that will not be withdrawn at the last minute.
